Hi Phoenix.
Thanks for your contribution to our science talent development. You were a quiet member of our group, but were always on task and showing interest in each activity. The baking science seemed to really appeal to you - perhaps this is because you show quite an interest in cooking! You have great task commitment and this showed throughout the term with your completion of your Must Do's and Picks. It was great to see you working with a variety of children throughout the term - there is a great photo of you and Blake with your completed lava lamp! Well done Phoenix.
Katie.

2 stars and a wish term 3

This term has been a great term! We've had heaps of fun making those documentaries and I think we did a great job! This is my reflection on this term; 2 stars and a wish:
Star 1: I got to work with 2 of my friends and we made a great documentary!
star 2:We finished our documentary at only 4 minutes out of 5!
Wish: My wish is for next term to have a workshop on Skype.
Thanks for reading.

Documentary

YAY! Our documentary is finally finished! All that hard work really paid off. Today we were putting the finishing touches on it like: Background music and special effects. It is called Southland Icons and it has all sorts of things in it like The Water Tower, Southland Museum, Henry the Tuatara and Tim Shadbolt. My favourite part of the documentary process was putting in all the special effects.
Thank's for reading!

Hi Phoenix,

Wow you were really busy all day today with your editing! Your documentary is coming along nicely, with your final day next week I know that your group will put the finishing touches on in order to make it fabulous! Have you added background music yet? I know that will add to the effect you are after.

Interview with Mayor Tim Shadbolt

This morning at 9:15 Claudia, Kate and I walked over to the Invercargill City Council with Alana. We went there to interview Tim Shadbolt(mayor of Invercargill). Here are a few questions we asked him:

1. Q. Tell us 3 words to describe Southland.
A. Innovative, honest and hardworking.

2. Q. Whats your favourite icon in Southland?
A. My favourite icon is Dan Lavin, Latin Scholar, War hero, Publisher and Writer at Oxford University.

3. Q. If there was one thing you could change about Southland what would it be and why?
A. An International Airport. If we could fly to Perth direct we would be part of a loop rather than the end of a no exit highway.

Thank you for reading this blog post.

Canstruction

Today at Enrich a man called Neil came in to help 6 of us design our canstruction building. Canstruction is a competition where different schools compete by making big models out of cans. We were coming up with different ideas for what our model could be. Including: a heart, a hippo, a tiger, The Water Tower, a burger and a chess piece. In the end we were deciding between a burger and a chess piece. Now we're going to make a burger!

Talent development

For my Talent development this term I am making a documentary with Kate and Claudia for the MADE awards. Our documentary is going to be about Southland icons. Today Kate rang Tim Shadbolt to ask if we could interview him. We are also going to look at things like The Stags and The Big Umbrella, I can't wait to start filming!

Teacher comment

Phoenix you were very organised and motivated to make difference for others through your passion project and through your determination and hard work you have defiantly achieved this. I was very impressed with the way you met each new challenge and found ways to overcome them. It was also great to see you engaging with like minds in a range of other areas on each day.

End of Term 2

This term has been a really long term! I've finally wrapped my passion project up and I'm finishing all of the other things I have to do. I can't wait for the holidays! I can just put my feet up relax and come back next term ready! Here are my two stars and a wish* about this term:
Stars: I liked the thinking tasks we had today where we went around in pairs doing different activities such as: finishing a rubiks cube in 5 minutes and trying to get as much pieces of a puzzle together in 5 minutes as we can. My second star is I finished my passion project! Yay!
Wish:I wish that next term I can finish my Talent Development earlier.
*Two stars and a wish are a way of reflecting. Because the two stars mean two things that you liked and the wish is one thing that you would change about something you did.
Thank you for reading.

Gifted Awareness Week

This week is Gifted Awareness Week. All of the children at Enrich were asked to write what it means for us to be gifted. It feels really good to be gifted. Because you know you are special and nobody can take that away from you. I am gifted because I think differently to other children my age. I really enjoy all the subjects that I do at school, and by coming to Enrich, I get the opportunity to do different activities, which makes me learn more.

At school everyone is asking questions like "How do you do this?", "How do you spell that?" and "Whats the answer to that question?" which gets really annoying and if you don't know everybody says "You shouldn't go to Enrich". But at Enrich you feel free because nobody is asking you questions all the time.

We are trusted to plan our own timetable for the day so that we learn to self-manage ourselves. We get the chance to do passion projects, which are always quite challenging.

Thank you for reading this post.

My Passion Project So Far

Today Claudia and I walked to the Public Library with Katie(teacher). We walked to the Library because earlier this morning I got an email from a librarian saying I can come down and look at some books. As I emailed the library the week before asking for books. We need books because Discovery 1 school in Christchurch needs books as they have no library after the earthquake. When we got to the library
there was a big tray full of books that we could choose from. The books were in that tray because they were not issued in a long time. In the end we decided to get all the books we were very thankful. I told them that I am going to say something about them on the radio and my blog (which I'm doing right now) to say thanks. THANKS INVERCARGILL LIBRARY YOU ROCK!!!

Hot Writing

Here is my moment in time writing. Moment in time writing is when you choose one short snapshot of time in your life.
This is about me going on a carnival ride.
I had to write an interesting story with all my feelings and emotions.

THE SIDEWINDER
CLICK! The safety barrier went.
No turning back now.
Excited!
Scared!
Nervous!
Proud!
Suddenly we slowly start moving forward....
Up! Up! Up!
My stomach lurches.
Faster! Faster!
It's now so fast I can't bear it!
WWWHHHEEE!
Whooop!
I can feel the blood rushing to my head.
Uuugggghhh!
I feel sick.

Can you lie to yourself?

At P4C we got asked a question "can you lie to yourself?" I think you can't lie to yourself because if you lie to someone you intend to trick them into believing what you said was true. So if you lie to yourself you would know that it's not true, so I think you can't lie to yourself.
If you don't agree with me please leave a comment.

Multiple Intelligences

Here are my results from my Multiple intelligences quiz. It shows that my strong area of talent is naturalistic and interpersonal and I'm not so strong in linguistic and kinesthetic.
